CORONAVIRUS RELIEF
Due to Coronavirus, the world has been waging a war against death. Due to curfew in certain parts of Sri Lanka, the people below the poverty line who relied on a daily wage were pushed into starvation. Although this was an abnormal situation around the world, the poorest families have been struggling to survive; especially single mums, where the bread winners were killed during the Civil War. ICI together with LSLHT (Living Springs Loving Hand Trust), were able to distribute essential food relief for more than 1300 families. However, the charities in Sri Lanka have request support for over 3000 families.
These families whom we have assisted so far are the ones that are living below the poverty line and had been in a dire situation. Although there are many more families in a similar situation, we were only able to provide help to a limited number of people due to the availability of funds.
To provide essential food supply (dry ration pack that contains Rice, Flour, Sugar, Tea, Dhal, Soya meat , Milk powder, one Canned fish and some health care products such as soap) to a single family, the cost would be around $20 AUD.
If anyone would like to support more families by providing dry food packages, we humbly request for you to provide financial assistance by donating through ICI. Your donation towards the humanitarian relief through ICI is tax deductible gift in Australia.
